5 Ways To Pamper Yourself At Home

pamper yourself, treat yourself, night in, masks

Ahhhhh. There’s something magical about a night spent home alone and treating yourself to whatever you wish. I hear from my sister who is a mother these kinds of nights become non-existent at some point in life. Until that day comes (and now that the holiday dust has settled) I’m going to soak them up as much as possible.

Around this time of year my skin gets really dry and my summer glow is long gone. I didn’t do the best job last year making sure I had washed my face every night and moisturizing was optional many nights which means I’m suffering the consequences now.

I had a Friday night all to myself recently and decided it was time to make myself a little at home spa and treat myself to some products that I rarely use and a few things I’ve picked up over the past few months that I had been saving for a night like this.

1. Try a face mask

Someone turned me on to Tatcha a few years back, and although I don’t have a ton of their products the ones I’ve tried I adore. Believe it or not, I’ve only ever done a mask once before and I can’t even remember what it was. I gave this hydrating mask a try and WOW was I impressed in the instant results. It was like I reversed all of the wine and champagne from the holidays in 15 minutes.

2. Deep condition your hair

I mentioned deep conditioning in this post I did on 5 steps to a perfect hair day, but it’s another small step that goes a long way. I find that I don’t have as much time to do this regularly but if I can add it into my routine or on a night in my hair is silkier and smoother and my washes are easily extended. My favorite is the Living Proof mask treatment for dry hair–it works like a charm!

3. Use oils on your dry patches

Oils are something that I didn’t really know much about and had definitely never tried before until last year. In most other circumstances we’re taught that oils can be bad. In this case, they can soften and firm at the same time and provide a natural looking glow that is nearly impossible to find outside of good skincare during the winter. My go to has become the La Mer renewal oil that debuted this past year.

4. Try a new product & routine

One of the holiday gifts I received this year from my friends over at People Style Watch was the chance to try out a product called Dermaflash. To be honest, I’m usually terrified of anything coming near my face that peels, plucks, or scrapes. I have gotten one facial and it was a disaster, so everything I do is usually at home and doesn’t involve anything except exfoliation and cleansing. Similar to the Clarisonic (I don’t have one but hear they’re great) for washing your face or a Sonicare for your teeth (I swear by mine, I haven’t had a bad visit to the dentist since switching) the Dermaflash uses sonic vibration and removes dead cells from the surface of your skin. I’ve only tried it once so far, but immediately noticed results here too. I’m going to try and keep it up every other week especially during the winter months.

5. Indulge in something just for you

Does your significant other hate chocolate? Do you dream about having champagne in your bathtub and playing records in the background? Or is it something much more simple, like spend 30 minutes reading uninterrupted? Whatever your flavor, get yourself 2 scoops and cap off the night with it. For me it’s usually a glass of wine, a long hot shower, and a good rom-com.

What are some of your favorite ways to pamper yourself at home?
