If you’ve been following along with our apartment progress, you may have noticed we’ve been slow out of the gate. We moved into our new place coming off of the busiest summer ever and led straight into the holidays. It wasn’t until January that we actually had a chance to just sit back and enjoy things.
I had high hopes of being completely settled in 2 months. Hah! What did I know. My friend Danielle told me I was crazy, and boy was she right. We’re 6 months into our place and haven’t finished our walls, living room and all of the little things.
Furniture shopping and decorating from scratch can be super challenging, especially starting from scratch. I’ve learned the hard way in the past that rushing things may lead to immediate satisfaction and end the hunt, but long term doesn’t work.
We shared our bedroom recently and although there’s nothing on the walls yet and I still need to style the dressers, our bed and bedsides are pretty much done and it’s the best place to come home to every night.
Our living room is partially complete with our swivel chairs by the window, bookshelf and TV stand. But we’re still missing a coffee table and overall look and feel that ties the dining area to the living room. So it’s back to the inspiration board!
I’ve been spending a lot of time on Pinterest lately looking for inspiration of coastal but slightly rustic interiors with lots of grey, white and some warmer natural tones. We like the light and airy feel, but want some character in there too.
My favorite looks combine chunky, home-y textures and colors with simple decorations. We’re currently on the hunt for a square (or round) coffee table to fill the living room space, but haven’t come up with anything just yet. Ideally we want this coffee table but in a square shape.
Where have you found your favorite furniture pieces?
LIVING ROOM INSPO
Where is the round gold light from in sitting room?
Do you know where the rug is from on the second image? No link came up when I clicked the image.
Thank you,
Jenna
I actually don’t, I’m sorry Jenna!
What paint color did you use for the room featured in the second photo? It looks refreshing.
I simply adore this article, mostly because I too am in love with modern chic themed interiors. There’s just something about statement pieces set against simple backdrops that just sets my heart a flutter. Chic, vintage and ornate are the three words that best summarise my house, and it’s fantastic to read an article that not only agrees with my design choices but also proves just how fabulous they are! ( Just as a tip, if you are still decorating, I can wholeheartedly recommend checking out Swanky Interiors for their niche pieces – I think you’d like them). Keep up the fabulous articles and even more fabulous interior designing.
