Every year as we round the corner towards spring and summer I start getting the itch to shop for swimsuits. Maybe it’s the anticipation of finally being in a pool or an ocean again, but I love to think ahead to what I might want to wear for the new season. I long for the days of “spring break” when you always knew you’d be in a suit by March, but with Memorial Day around the corner I’m already starting the countdown.

One of the things I like to do even before it’s warm enough to wear it is find a suit that I can’t wait to wear when the time comes. I feel like now more than ever there are so many styles of suits that I’ve been wanting to try, so I wanted this one to be different from something that I already own.

I used to be a strictly triangle top bikini girl, but I’m branching out into some other styles especially in tops that are good for my body type. For my frame I usually gravitate towards bikinis and something with a little bit of support in the bust. I used to love strapless tops, but I’ve found I like more support.

I had never tried a high neck top before and when I saw this version I knew I had to give it a shot. It’s very flattering and the crochet detail at the top hooked me. I discovered a new brand that I instantly fell for – have you heard of Robin Piccone? I have to say this is one of the most comfortable suits that I own.

For something with a little more coverage these crochet bikini bottoms are a great option and this is a unique and fun one-piece option. I always love picking up a neutral tote that can carry all of my pool or beach essentials and year-round I can use it to take to work. There are some affordable options (I love the ties on this one!) and this one is a beautiful splurge.

Some of my other favorite brands that Nordstrom carries are Boys and Arrows, Solid and Striped (started by Poppy Delevingne), and Mara Hoffman for bright, colorful bikinis and coverups. If you’re wanting more high neck versions there are a ton – this Dolce Vita macrame version is another fun one that’s also easy to mix and match.

Now I’m just waiting for the first chance to wear it for a dip!
