As promised, I’m bringing another winter inspired outfit this week! There was a long stretch of time where I was searching for the perfect blouse – lightweight, not too sheer, cleanly designed with beautiful fabric. It’s the case in life and with this particular blouse that when you’re looking for something you can’t find it but the moment you stop it hits you in the face… and that’s exactly what happened!
I heard about Everlane for the first time a few months back and was intrigued. As you know, I’m a big fan of prints and bright colors but this weather has really challenged me to put a different twist on my wardrobe. It’s not an option to wear anything but pants because it’s negative degrees out, so I’m playing with textures and color schemes to keep things interesting. Everlane is a brand that I have so much respect for because what they do is so simple – but they do it so well. They only carry tops and a few accessories in monochromatic and somewhat muted colors but they’re affordable, well made and expensive looking and feeling.
This year I promised myself to stick to my “less is more” mantra and really invest in pieces that are going to last me a long time. Sure, I still like to supplement with fun and cheap stuff but those can be woven in if you have great staples. I chose the rounded collar silk blouse in Dusk because it’s a blushy-neutral color that really goes with almost anything and that is exactly what I was looking for in my perfect blouse. Pair it with denim and a top knot, white jeans and wavy hair, underneath a navy striped sweater, or even with acid wash jeans and shearling jacket and this blouse is the foundation to a great look.
What are your favorite wardrobe staples and how are you pulling them out this winter?
