Sister, Sister

I consider myself extremely lucky to have a sister. It’s something that I’ve never taken for granted necessarily, but the older I’ve gotten the more I’ve realized how special it is. When we were younger we always wanted a brother and I’m pretty sure at times she would’ve gladly traded for one instead of having a little mini following her around and wanting to do everything she did.

My sister was in town this weekend and we had the best time just hanging out with each other and exploring the city. I love getting to share Chicago with the people I care about! Although we did a lot of walking, eating, shopping and even got a few touristy necessities in (pizza and the Field Museum), my favorite parts of her trip were ones where we were just doing things that reminded me of what it was like to be around each other all of the time. I had forgotten how fun it is to get ready together, pick out clothes and have a sister sleepover.

We were laughing about the times growing up when I would go sleep in her room because I was scared, or just because I thought it was cool. It’s funny to be 20 years down the road and still enjoy the girl talk and slumber party feel of just hanging out with your sister. She’s also incredible with makeup and showed me how to tweak a few things that made such a big difference in my daily routine. I have always admired sister duos like the Snyder’s (the Dannijo founders) who found a way to make their passion work together and the Ronson sisters who are both doing what they love and are so different but support each other (Sam will DJ Charlotte’s fashion week shows at times). Maybe one day we will be the next sister styling/makeup duo…
