Someone asked me this question recently and it really made me think. Where am I the most creative? Where do I feel the most energized and inspired?

The answer then became simple the more I thought about it: I’m the most inspired when I travel.

Whether it’s somewhere tropical like my trip to Puerto Rico with vibrant colors and a totally different vibe or just going home to Dallas and being back in the south – just being away starts turning wheels in my head that in a normal week sometimes don’t seem to move at the same rate.

I love following travel bloggers and people who live in exciting new cities for inspiration. Traveling to me is about putting yourself in a new environment and learning to embrace and appreciate that even (and especially) if it’s different from what you know and are used to.

I remember the first time I traveled abroad alone I was just sitting there eating lunch by myself in a cafe people watching. I remember thinking about how different everyone’s lives were, wondering where they were going, what they did for a living, and realizing that our lives were so very different.

Not to mention, every time I’m up in the air it’s like the separation from earth creates more space in my brain to push the daily thoughts and worries aside and focus on new ideas.

My upcoming travels have me extra inspired to explore my colorful side! I’m loving this off the shoulder dress from Old Navy and will be pulling this out for some trips this summer – especially one to Charleston. I always find myself wanting free hands when I’m exploring new places and love this little lasercut crossbody bag that I paired with a neck scarf for some added color. There’s also a tote version of the bag that I love for beach days and exploring farmer’s markets.

Have you seen the Havana Nights collection yet? It’s full of lush florals, whimsical tropical prints and will leave you wanting to pack your bags and head somewhere south, like Cuba! Most of the pieces are wallet friendly and around $30, like this floral jumpsuit or this off the shoulder staple.

Where are you headed this summer and what inspires you the most?
