This past Friday night was my kind of night – it was 80 degrees outside when I got off of work and we had a double date lined up with one of our favorite couples at a restaurant we had all never been to. I was ecstatic to throw on something easy but on the summery side to walk over to the West Village in for dinner. I had come home from work and threw on quick clothes to run errands so by the time I got home I took a shower and was starting from scratch.

I started leafing through my tops and dresses and 15 minutes later I had still not made a decision. It was all too nice, too casual, too much skin, not enough skin, you name it. I panicked for a second when I realized the very first chance I had to wear all of the fun spring/summer clothes I’ve recently picked up resulted in me laying on my bed in my bathrobe and running behind. Why was it so hard?

In this particular case it was because I had an idea of something I wanted to wear already in my head and couldn’t shake it – and even worse couldn’t find it. It was a solid reminder that I still had more spring cleaning to do and also dawned on me that I almost never have to start from scratch for a night out anymore. I usually find myself leaving work and hopping over to meet friends or MG right away. On nights when I do that I usually plan ahead and wear something that will work and that I can add a bold lip and a heel if I’m not already in one.

This outfit holds two of the keys to my work to weekend looks. This pleated white top is great for work with a long cardigan or blazer and is a guaranteed summer staple with cutoff shorts and sandals (like these cute little slides!). Pair it with a more sophisticated pant and pumps for a day at the office, but you can also make the pants work for a fun brunch or night out if you swap in a little crop top and colorful heels.

The best thing about these pants is that they’re fitted and actually hug your figure. I love them and have a few pairs that I find myself wearing in casual settings during the spring when I want to change it up from my usual denim days. Since they come in petite sizes I don’t have to get them tailored and for once can wear them as soon as I get home!

This is a shorter week for me (woo hoo!) because we’re headed to Savannah on Friday for a wedding! I’m SO excited to be heading to Georgia not only because of the wedding and because I haven’t been, but also because this will be our first trip this year. I’m itching for some sunshine and southern comfort food. After an indulgent weekend that included doing absolutely nothing yesterday (sorry I missed this week’s 5 Happy Things, I’ll make it up next week!) I’m headed to Barry’s and yoga hopefully this week to make room for some fried chicken and grits this weekend. Have any of you guys ever been to Savannah? Looking for some recommendations for lunch!
