Can I be honest? I’ve been in a rut lately. Let’s start with the fact that it’s April 2nd and it’s snowing again.
I’m one of those people who is super affected by the weather and likewise very inspired by my surroundings, so getting dressed lately has been a struggle.
I was in Dallas over the weekend and it’s amazing what a few days of sunshine will do for the soul! It was in the 70’s and I came back feeling more refreshed than I’ve felt in a while. I’ve learned that it’s important to listen to your body and mind and if you are needing rest, take it. If you need a getaway, book it. I was there to see my family and do a little wedding dress shopping, but the trip came at the perfect time for a lot of reasons.
I’ve also found that when you’re in a rut the best way to get out of it is to go with that you know and love. I have a serious things with kimonos. They’re fun, versatile, and such a beautiful addition to the most simplest of outfits. I wear them over jeans and top, over simple dresses, and the best is wearing them as cover ups (like this one that arrived recently). You really can’t ever have too many! My favorite version has been in my closet for almost 6 years and is actually from Topshop if you can believe it.
If you’ve never tried one before and are thinking about it I’d recommend starting with one that’s shorter and either floral or patterened. I fell in love with them for their flowy sleeves and have gradually moved onto longer, more interesting ones. You can also look for versions that work well for evening, like this velvet one.
Do you have any kimonos and if not, would you try one?

Christine, I feel exactly the same way, especially since I just came from visiting a hot place a couple weeks ago. I’m in Connecticut so your weather is my weather. Let’s hope for no more snow.
I love this look so much! Kimonos are so trendy and make any outfit super chic!
