Happy New Year everyone! First post of 2015, and I’m already being a rebel. Winter white is one of my favorite excuses to break an old-fashioned rule :).

Growing up in the South I’m accustomed to warm weather, for better or worse. I’d rather be melting in 100+ degree weather any day over being in the single digit temps, and so naturally the ratio in my closet of summer to winter is biased towards my favorite season.

Sometimes I catch myself looking longingly on my favorite summer dresses thinking, “how many more days until I can wear you again?”. One of my goals this year is to make an effort to wear my favorite pieces more often. I love summer and summer clothes so much — on the level of froyo and pizza kind of love. It’s always so sad to store away my summer dresses and skirts when the Fall hits.

This year I decided to do things a little differently! Instead of stashing them all away, I kept a few of my favorite summer pieces out for layering under some chunky sweaters and cardigans and with over the knee boots. I’m a little short to pull off over the knee boots and a dress without tights, but I kind of like the idea of not having to wear them and still being warm.

Would you ever believe that this is the dress I wore to a summer party and I’m pulling it out again (and still warm) in January? I love it when I can find a way to keep wearing pieces year-round! I decided to keep it light and pretty minimal with a cream clutch and my older (but still great) over the knee boots and a few baubles from Kendra Scott and Bauble Bar.

Speaking of, my family got me this gorgeous pair of Kendra Scott earrings for my birthday and I can’t stop wearing them! They’re the perfect size and the crystal crackle adds a lot to your outfit without having to choose an accent color. Hope your New Year is off to a great start!

Me too :) not much snow here I hope you’re enjoying it there and staying warm!

I love white in winter! The OTKB are amazing on you. I am also on the petite side like you and never thought OTKB would look right on me. You pull it off effortlessly and make me want to invest in a pair.
