I joked recently on Instagram about how terrible I am sometimes at laundry, but one of my recent fails was maybe the most epic one of all. I shrank my favorite gingham dress! I went to put it on the other day and instead of being really mad at myself, started cracking up because it was definitely no longer appropriate to wear as a dress. Oops!
I decided to turn this annoyance into a happy surprise. One trip to the tailor and a few days later, I had converted my favorite dress now into my new favorite top! Peplum is such a flattering fit for a variety of body types, petites especially. I decided to give the whole look some pops of color with these snakeskin heels and a personalized kelly green clutch from my friends at Leatherology. I added some edge by choosing my ripped skinny jeans that also came back from the tailor recently (one of the downsides of ever buying pants when you’re 5’2″).
One of my teachers taught me at a very young age that “when live gives you lemons, make lemonade”. Optimistic thinking is infectious and whether it’s a silly laundry mistake or a curveball in life, it will make a huge difference in someone’s day.
Happy Monday and go make some lemonade! :)
