Admittedly, I had not seen a single movie that was up for an Oscar. Oops! I haven’t been to a movie in ages even though several of them were on my list. To my surprise and delight La La Land was available for me to watch on my flight the other week so I immediately sat down and started it while I began working.

If you haven’t seen it let me summarize – two idealistic people meet (one loves jazz, one wants to be an actress) and fall in love. In the early stages they are constantly supporting each other as they both chase their dreams. He wants to open his own jazz club and she wants to write a play that she can star in. They encourage each other through the obstacles that they encounter, but relentlessly pursue their dreams. Before things change (as they do sometimes in life), they were happy, scared but excited, and just went for it.

I sat there thinking about dreams and what that would’ve looked like for me in my early 20’s. To tell you the truth, I had no idea what “my dream” would’ve been. To be even more honest, I still don’t exactly know. I shared a little bit of the lessons I learned in my 20’s, but most of all I’ve learned that you don’t have to know.

You could say that it was a dream of mine to work with brands that I adore. It would be a dream to be featured in a magazine someday or to get to travel and experience new cities to share with other people. The crazy thing is I didn’t know what was possible until I started trying.

Who knew when I started blogging that late nights typing my thoughts, editing photos, crazy weathered photo shoots, and a lot of persistence would have plopped me here today.

Watching Emma Stone walk out on stage before her performance with months of work was so inspiring – and in what she defined as her failure initially, to me showed incredible courage and bravery. It’s difficult to take those kinds of risks and was a healthy reminder that this blog for me isn’t just for style inspiration and shopping tips.  It’s a constant reminder that if you don’t try, you’ll never know.

Keep on dreamin’ my friends!
