As much as I love getting sun in the summertime, in my older age I’ve become much more conscious of protecting my skin. Whether it’s the right sunscreen, makeup that has sunscreen in it, or oversized sunnies I try to keep an arsenal of weapons that cover my face.
This summer I really wanted to find a summer hat with a wider brim and that fit really well. I have a smaller head and often struggle to find the right hats, especially at an affordable price point. I tend to toss my hats around in the sand and near the pool so I don’t usually like to spend too much on them!
I finally landed on this version for just $44 and it came in a size XS. Straw hats scream vacation, beach days, and sweet summertime. Everyone has their own preferences in style, but I love a wider brim, boater hats, and a good panama hat. Here are 5 of my favorites for the season (and all but one are under $40!):
We spent the weekend in the city and were pretty excited to have a blank slate on Friday after work. We ended up doing a bit of exploring in Red Hook and took the ferry on Saturday, which was gorgeous and such a nice way to get across the bridge! Our summer has officially been kicked off which also means that our “hot dog summer” is starting up and that we’ll inevitably be out of town for many of the next weekends to come.
I mentioned this last week but I’m working on a special project that is taking a little longer than usual, but I’m hoping to share next week once it’s totally ready. Can’t wait for you guys to see!
