Some of my favorite accounts to follow on Instagram are travel related. I love being inspired by other peoples’ perspectives on places that I’ve been and getting a peek into places I’ve never even heard of before. I screenshot and save interesting places and keep them all in Evernote in hopes that one day I’ll get a chance to explore them.
We’ve been traveling a lot this summer – nowhere out of the country (yet), but it’s inspired me to jump out of my monotonous New York wardrobe at times and bring in pieces that are more colorful. This skirt and the colors in it remind me of a trip I took last year to Puerto Rico with my best friends from home. One of our best girls is Puerto Rican and we loved getting to experience the culture, food, soak up that strong Puerto Rican sun and even get to meet her grandma.
Literally all of my friends from every stage in life live all over the U.S. and even Europe now. It’s so tough at times because I’m the type of person who loves seeing my friends regularly and miss the days of being able to walk over to someone’s house for dinner or to watch TV. Now that we’re so spread out I find that it’s more important than ever to plan fun reunion trips and make a point to get somewhere together.
At the end of this month we’ll be home celebrating my Puerto Rican bestie’s family and her twins that are on the way! We’ve been planning the shower and I’m counting down the days until I see my girls from home and my family again! What do you do to keep in touch with your best friends?
P.S. – Happiest of birthdays to my amazing big sister! Wish I could be there with you today to celebrate, xo!
