You know those times when you get your mind set on something, and it’s all you can think about? That’s me, on the hunt for the perfect, casual, soft striped tee. Thankfully after hunting high and low I finally found not one, but several!

The one I’m wearing is from Brandi Melville – I scooped it up on my friend Melanie’s visit here as BM is one of our all time favorite stores for the comfiest clothes, well, ever. The other favorite of mine is from Heidi Merrick, a designer out in LA who knows how to do California casual oh so well, and stripes are kind of her thing. Last but not least, you could also scoop one up from Forever 21 (although I can’t vouch for the same level of softness as the other two).

People everywhere are giving the term “basic” such a bad wrap lately, but basics in your wardrobe are so important and have been a go-to of mine lately especially on the days when it’s begrudgingly cold. I think every girl needs to have a simple look like this in their back pocket!

In other news, this weekend was … well, pretty basic. After a long week of not sleeping well, getting over a random cold and other nonsense I was way overdue for a little R&R. It was a rare weekend of being extremely productive / not having an agenda and seeing what happened. Saturday I spent the afternoon when I finally made it out doing something I haven’t done in ages.. reading! More to come on that tomorrow (it has to do with a gift from one of the brands that I love). Hope you guys got a lot of rest and relaxation, cheers to a new week!

What would our wardrobes be without great basics? They are the foundation….
I love your tee shirt Christine…the narrow width of the stripes is the most flattering for petites.

With how ubiquitous the striped tee is, it’s still hard to find just the right one. Excellent choice with this Brandi Melville one.

Love this post! The whole basic thing annoys me! There is something about mastering the classics versus trying every trend out there.
