The View From 5 Ft. 2

Uptown Girl

Confessions of being a New York transplant–there are still some songs that make me so happy to listen to when I walk around the city. One of those songs is Uptown Girl by Billy Joel.. it just puts a smile on my face.

If you saw the movie Trainwreck you may be thinking about the final scene where Amy Schumer’s dancing like a fool in a Knicks girl uniform at Madison Square Garden to the song (kind of a life goal, how fun would that be?) or if you’re a Brittany Murphy fan you may be thinking of Uptown Girls with her and Dakota Fanning. Those are all good references and if by chance both of those came to mind, we’d probably be friends.

I doubt this will come as a shock to you guys, but I’m not an uptown girl. I have a few quirks that might fall into the category but I’m a downtown girl at heart. At the end of the day, I need a little leather trim and sneakers. One of my favorite reasons to go uptown though is to make trips into some of my favorite stores, like Henri Bendel. In my short time here I’ve fallen for their stuff and love making the trip into the store–one of the few I’ll make the trek uptown for. This little satchel has quickly become my new BFF (as I’m sure you’ve noticed over on Instagram). It’s the perfect size for all of my goodies (slim wallet case, sunglasses, phone, lipstick and small brush) and in the shade that’s been seen everywhere this season.

When we hit this time of the year I usually fall into a deep, deep rut of wearing only jeans or black pants. I picked up these white Rag & Bone jeans this summer and promised myself I’d find other chances to wear them this fall and winter for a little change up. I love mixing camel and black with them to make a pair of jeans date night ready while still being cozy.

Speaking of Henri Bendel, we made a trip up to 5th avenue this past weekend to the store and to see one of my favorite parts of the city at Christmas all decked out. We saw the tree at Rockefeller, went up to Central Park for a bit, admired all of the decorations and did some Christmas shopping and ending the day celebrating with friends. How was your weekend?
