The View From 5 Ft. 2

Our Big Adventure

It’s official – Spring is here! This change in season is one of the most highly anticipated for me every year. I happily say goodbye to winter (even if it’s not completely warm yet) and I start looking forward to everything that the new season brings. Longer days, walking as my preferred method of transportation, and of course the excitement of breaking out my dresses and swimsuits. These things are all wonderful, but there are two things I look forward to the most with the arrival of spring.

One of those things is the welcoming back of more color into my wardrobe. As much as I love neutrals and anything black most days of the year, I always love bringing out my colorful side with the sun. Easy pieces like this slip dress speak boldly enough on their own to where you don’t always have to add anything with them. And while I don’t usually wear bright blue in the winter, it’s actually one of my favorite colors (especially your girl can get a little tan!). I love this kimono and how versatile it is to tie it up or leave it loose and flowy.

This dress fits like a dream and is one of the many new petite pieces that I had eagerly added to cart as soon as I saw them. The newest arrivals like this flowy maxi dress are giving me all of the vacation vibes!

The other thing that I start looking forward to the most is the anticipation of travel. Most of my trips are usually over the summer or later in the year, but we’re starting to book flights and make plans for those trips now. One of those trips is destined to be extra special.

Most of you guys may not know this about me, but I was adopted when I was 4 months old from South Korea. I’ve never been back since despite my parents telling me my entire life that they would take me. Life was just so hectic when I was younger and somehow I could never find the time between school and soccer. Fast forward to my adult years and I was all over the place – moving across the country twice in 6 years was not conducive to picking up and traveling for weeks at a time and I just wasn’t at a point where I was ready for that trip.

This past year it dawned on me that there was no time like the present to really make it happen – my parents are both retired now and on one of their last visits I broached the subject. There’s something funny about life’s timing and when you know it feels right, you just know. I knew that the timing felt right and I asked them if we could start talking seriously about doing it and they were so excited to hear it. It’s also something I always wanted to share with my love and the person who knows me the best, MG. After talking about logistics and looking at options we finally all decided to go for it.

So this October we’ll be packing up and heading out on an adventure of a lifetime. I can’t even begin to tell you guys what this trip is going to mean to all of us, me especially – to finally get to see where I was born and experience the culture that I came from. It’s finally setting in that it’s happening and there are really no words to do my emotions justice. I can guarantee there will be a lot of happy tears, incredible food, and obviously tons of photos!

I’m looking forward to the bright colors of Korea and Hong Kong and I would love to hear your recommendations if you’ve been!
