Plaid Mixing

blanket scarf, plaid mixing, winter style, fall style, zara blanket scarf, plaid style

It’s official – everyone (myself included) is obsessed with Zara’s blanket scarves this year. They really knocked it out of the park with the colors and the price point and I will tell you after a “feels like 18” degree day here in New York.. they’re super warm.

I already scooped up two that I’ve been wearing nonstop — they’re my go to on cold days when I need that layering! Admittedly, I bought one in September actually before everyone really caught on to how great they were and I almost returned it because I came home and thought… this thing is bigger than my head. Being petite I thought it kind of engulfed my entire body almost to the point of it being awkward to wear.

Lo and behold it grew on me and my friend Amanda taught me a little trick on how to style it so it doesn’t seem as bulky. My favorite thing about them is that you can wear them loose and even belt it with a pair of jeans and a simple blouse. It’s such an easy way to create an outfit out of a cozy accessory.

I’ve also been playing with some mixing of prints and lots of other ways to layer (stay tuned next week for another version of this outfit!). Staying warm and stylish can be tricky and when I leave for work in the mornings I’m looking for easy ways to make that possible!
