Preparing Your Fall Wardrobe

nordstrom, suede skirt, fall layers, welden bags, suede

My goal this upcoming fall is to focus on pieces that I can get a lot of wear out of and feel like I’m contributing more to my overall “wardrobe” with each purchase. I fall very guilty in the summertime of looking for super trendy and extra colorful items and then come the next year feel like I have to start over.

I picked up this skirt during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and it’s probably the piece I’m most excited about wearing this fall. I made a point to focus on a few key items that I knew would pair well with boots and sweaters. I love mixing skirts with knits, so this suede miniskirt was a must-have and I immediately snagged it. I love the burnt brown shade and it really looks so luxe in person. (P.S. it runs true to size and sits higher on the waist!).

You may have seen this wear now & later look from last week – I love that plaid Rails shirt and today am sharing some other pieces like that top that can easily be swapped in with today’s look!

BOOTIES

Last year I picked up these black suede ankle boots from Nordstrom and they’ll be returning again this season – after a quick trip to the cobbler they’re looking clean and ready for whatever mother nature brings us! I also scooped up a pair of lighter ankle boots as well and invested a little more in this pair from Nordstrom to give myself a more neutral, walkable pair. I can’t even tell you how many times I wore these last year! I’m also loving how many block heel bootie options there are right now. This pair in black and this cute pair with a tie in the back are great options.

CARDIGANS

I also really wanted to have a few amazing cardigans that I can bring with me to work or easily layer with other knits. Surprisingly I didn’t have any light ones to offset darker fall hues, so I scooped up this circle cardigan (that just came back in stock!). If you’re looking for something extra warm, definitely take a look at the cashmere options at Nordstrom. They’re a great value for cashmere and last a long time. This is the cashmere version I snagged for the season and it also just came back in stock and this is a great version in black as well. If you’re looking for a staple that’s under $50, this is the one for you.

SUEDE

Nothing screams fall quite like suede. It has such a luxurious texture and really brings a richness to any look. Whether it’s a beautiful crossbody bag or a suede jacket that you can layer over basics, I usually look to these pieces to help bring the season to pieces that are more simple. I love pairing jackets like these with a basic white or black tee, jeans and boots. Nordstrom carries several of my favorite brands like BlankNYC and BB Dakota that are affordable but also look more expensive than they are.
