Lucky FABB Conference: Photo Diary

To kick off New York Fashion Week in the best way possible, my first day in New York was spent soaking up knowledge from incredible speakers and being pampered with goodies by Lucky Magazine at their Fashion and Beauty Blog conference {Lucky FABB}. It was an incredible day full of learning with a common message: “take the risk.” Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed hearing from various female entrepreneurs and a wide variety of people who have created successful brands and businesses and were eager to share some of their successes and failures with us. It was incredibly encouraging to see how big of an impact blogging has made and is making on brands and I don’t think that will be changing anytime soon. Scott Galloway (one of the panel speakers) summed up our day in a nutshell: “This isn’t a blogging conference. You’re all entrepreneurs with cute shoes.”

What an incredible day meeting new bloggers, connecting with incredible brands and honestly feeling like it was Christmas come early. Lucky had at least 10 “suites” setup where we were basically pampered with products or fun things to try at every turn. I told Caroline Waxler {the incredible force behind the entire conference} that Lucky FABB was like Christmas + Halloween combined. It’s like you got to trick or treat around between panels and experience all of these brands, but instead of candy you got incredible dresses and shoes and beauty products and left with one huuuuge parting present that was absolutely divine! Pretty much every girl’s dream come true.

I think two of the biggest life lessons that were reinforced to me from my day at Lucky FABB were these….

{1} Everything happens for a reason. When Diane Von Furstenberg was headed to America (gasp.. she didn’t want to come over here) pregnant and everything, instead of being depressed about it she found opportunity in what the situation at hand was. Her man had factories that she had access to and that’s how she began producing the iconic wrap dress. What a way to turn opportunity into golden opportunity.

{2} Don’t underestimate the humble beginnings. The Kardashian sisters maxed out Kourtney’s credit card with $50,000 that they didn’t have an enlisted their entire family in helping them literally build by hand their very first Dash store. Kim used to sell things on eBay (granted they were Manolo/Timberland’s but she still had to pitch the idea to her Dad for the loan) and learned how to gain a profit on her ideas via selling things online.

I’m so thankful I had a chance to attend & a HUGE thank you and hug to Lucky Magazine & Caroline for throwing one of the best events of my fashion week! :) I already cannot wait for February!
