How many times have you woken up, walked into (or just stared straight at in my case) your closet and thought… I have absolutely nothing to wear. Hand raised x 1000! If writers block is real and artists need muses, I think we all need something for those days when our creative juices need a little jumpstart.

Those are the days when I go back to the basics. When all else fails, they’re always there for you to rely on when an exciting combination or creative pairing just isn’t going to happen.

Every woman has her own version of wardrobe staples, and for me they’ve changed a little bit over the years, but mine typically start with a good pair of jeans. I live in jeans a lot of the year – they’re so easy and still polished if you find the right pair. One of my favorites are the Madewell skinny skinny because they’re a perfect dark indigo color and fit snugly.

This past Fall, I finally invested in a white blouse that I knew I would want to wear with everything. This Equipment blouse is heavily rotated through my outfits and especially on days when I’m feeling bit more classic. Paired with a pair of nude heels like these Vince d’orsay pumps, it makes me feel polished but still surprisingly comfortable.

Around these three items, you can pretty much create any spin on classic that you want! I put on a statement necklace and pulled out a pretty little purple suede clutch for a little more color and then grabbed this trusty neutral coat that has been a winter favorite.

What are your wardrobe staples?

This is me! Lol without the pumps. I’m more of a comfort for my feet kind of girl so flats for me. Once I turned 30 I realized staple pieces are more important to invest in than trendy pieces. Although it’s still fun to add some trendy things each season.

I couldn’t agree more.. I’m at that place now! I am learning how to balance staples and a little fun here and there :)

I absolutely love this outfit! A pair of jeans and a blouse always work for me, I could wear this combo every single day!

Those pumps are perfect!

So true! I have realized that investing in classic pieces is the way to go and I haven’t had as difficult of a time figuring out what to wear to work every morning. Love a good Equipment blouse too – you look adorable!
