‘Tis the season to really shine! I love the holidays for a million reasons, but especially love getting a chance to get dressed up and a little extra fancy. Between company parties, holiday parties with friends and our annual family friend “Christmas Eve-Eve” dinner + gift exchange there are plenty of opportunities to make a statement this season.

I’ve always loved Urban Outfitters for dresses (remember this one from this summer?) and around the holidays it’s no different. Growing up we had a huge group of family friends in our neighborhood that we used to share the holidays with. Every year on Christmas Eve we would have a big party where “Santa” would come bring us some presents early, play games, and enjoy great food and even better company. I used to look forward to this night all year and still do!

I wanted to find a party dress this year that I could also wear to a few events in the city and the annual dinner and fell in love with this velvet embellished number. It has just enough sparkle to it with the jeweling on the front and back and subtle touches that make it a standout. Plus, I have a thing for velvet around the holidays. If you’re looking for something in a holiday shade, try this velvet off the shoulder dress. It’s another stunner!

To make the look even more holiday ready I added these tassel earrings and a simple clutch. I’m not usually ready for a night out without bronzer – it’s my guilty pleasure when it comes to getting ready for an event and I tend to blend it with blush for special occasions. I usually start with bronzer on my cheeks and then slightly higher on my cheekbones place a lighter highlighter.

The last step is just the lip. For special nights I also love getting a chance to put on a bolder color that I wouldn’t normally wear during the week. I’ve never tried liquid lipstick before, but I’m a big fan already. You have to let it dry for a few minutes and clean up any stray strokes quickly but the result is long-lasting even a couple glasses of champagne into the night!

Next week starts nonstop holiday fun – we have our Christmas party, two girls dinners, and several holiday parties next weekend. I’m so excited for the next 15 or so days! What do you have on your holiday agenda?

So chic! Loving these details, lady!

I love how easy this little dress is for the holidays! A short length works well on a petite frame (something I am always on the look-out for) and the velvet feel so seasonally appropriate. I am a sucker for tassels so that the earrings and bag are perfect additions!
