Ever since I was little, I’ve had a weakness for dresses. My mom never had a tough time getting me into one – if anything, she had a hard time convincing me to wear anything else. One of the things I’ve always found so special about them is that they end up tied closely to memories.

You know what I’m talking about – “that dress I wore to the wedding in Chicago last summer,” “the dress I wore to my graduation dinner,” “the dress I was wearing on our first vacation together”… the list goes on and on. My mom and I used to make trips to the Neiman Marcus flagship store in Dallas (if you’re never been, it’s a must followed by some margaritas at Javier’s) for dress shopping on special occasions and I always ended up convincing her to snag a few extras for those “unexpected special occasions”.

This past week I was in Puerto Rico with some of my very best friends – girls that I’ve known since we were in elementary/middle school – who have seen me through every stage of growing up, heartbreak, exciting changes, and most of all, insane amounts of laughter. We were joking before the trip that we would deem the whole thing a success based on how many times I laughed so hard I couldn’t breathe. They have a special place in my heart and I can’t even begin to tell you how special it is to get to take a vacation with friends you’re that close with. Life changes so quickly and before you know it everyone’s married, having kids and starting new families of their own.

The colors and silhouette of this dress perfectly complemented the beautiful backdrop of San Juan. Not only did I love the high-low hemline, but it’s a sexy and comfortable dress that I know I’ll re-wear for a wedding or two this summer. Most importantly, this will now be the dress I remember from “one of the best vacations of my life.” What’s your favorite dress and memory tied to it?
