Subtle Spring Changes

When the sun comes out, I usually start thinking about Spring shopping and sunkissed hair. In the years past, I used to balayage my hair regularly every spring. There were a few times where by summer it ended up lighter than I had wanted so this year I was looking for some subtle color.

I turned to Sassoon to help me transition my dark locks to a very subtle balayage to the front and ends of my hair. I love heading to Sassoon Salon Uptown for my hair appointments because it gives me a chance to shop around after my cut when I’m feeling refreshed and excited! After showing my stylists, Senior Creative Director, Elaine Mitchell and Color Director, Valencia D’Onofrio, pictures of what I was looking for she got to work.

We worked a subtle touch towards the front of my face and the result was just what I was looking for! The balayage color really lends itself to curls and inspired me to create 3 soft curl looks for spring:

1. Wavy curls

For my go-to look,  I use a large barrel iron and simple clips to create the curls and hold. I love Sebastian hair spray for the right amount of hold!

2. Half up curls

While a ribbon may not be everyone’s thing, I love it as another way to make a half up hairdo look more feminine and appropriate for spring. The color really comes through by creating an extra layer with the hairstyle!

3. Ponytail curls

An easy, effortless way to give your ponytail that oomph when you may be on your dry shampoo day. A little tease and volume goes a long way.

With an innovative eye for style and an attentive eye for creativity (like the new TORQUE collection), Sassoon has become my go-to salon in New York City for all things related to refreshing my spring hairstyles. More to come on some exciting new styles for you to try and how to care for your hair this summer!

This post was in collaboration with Sassoon! As always all opinions are my own.

what colour is it exactly that your highlights are?

She made it a medium brown mixture – I didn’t want anything with too much blonde in it

Deets on the sandals pls! Love the hair!

Hi Christine! Where is the floral top/dress from in the 3rd photo? It’s gorgeous!
