It’s Valentine’s week! Do you have anxiety yet? :) I’m just kidding… but for all of you guys out there I’m sure there is some truth to that. I have a lot of thoughts about Valentine’s Day that I’m going to share later in the week including how I’ve changed how I approach this Hallmark holiday, but for now let’s talk layering.

It’s almost unbelievable to me how relentless this winter has been – the snow just really loves our city, the wind just has the best time slamming me in the face, and I think mother nature is just determined to save me money from yoga since it requires me to walk the mile to and from the studio. I’m doing my absolute best to be positive (a resolution I made myself before this winter started) but it’s getting a little absurd. I can’t go a day without wearing multiple layers (or on some days multiple coats)! When you see people wearing normal winter attire and you’re jealous because you know it’s only 20-30 degrees in the photo.. that’s depressing.

This past week I have been trying to dig deep and keep mixing it up, although I am starting to feel like my creativity is freezing in the snow somewhere on Clark Street. I ended up putting on this really fun new sweater that Talbot’s sent over with a chambray shirt and some fake glasses with leopard flats. I love being able to play with a really simple look and just make one or two tweaks to make it feel a little different from something I’d normally wear. The sweater has a boyfriend fit and is perfect for layering over shirts for added warmth! I threw my hair up in a quick bun because let’s be honest, 3rd day hair is doable but not the best down, to show off my bow earrings from my sweet friend Mary. My friends over at Talbot’s are starting your Valentine’s week off with a GIVEAWAY! Wooo hooo! :)

This past weekend if you follow along with my adventures on Instagram you might’ve seen that we went to a black tie charity ball called Snowball last night. It was such a fun evening and one of our favorite nights of the year! I love getting all dressed up and dancing the night away. It’s kind of like going to a wedding with hundreds of other strangers in Chicago but instead of buying a present you’re giving money to the children’s hospital – pretty amazing right? If you’ve never been and live in Chicago you should definitely check it out next year. I finally was able to use my Rent The Runway credit from the segment we did on WGN and ordered the perfect long sleeve, warm Parker New York dress. I hope you all had as wonderful of a weekend as I did and am looking forward to seeing who wins the giveaway! xo
