For the past month the entire world has been captivated by the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. From the huge upsets, to the French drama, and the always entertaining Diego Maradona it has fully lived up to the excitement that only comes every 4 years. It has commanded the attention of billions worldwide – making the NFL Championship ratings look like tally marks. With all eyes on South Africa, this world cup was a memorable one.
For the USA, we have a lot to be proud of. Our men’s team showed a lot of heart and character and really engaged many people in the country who never watched soccer before. Ok… maybe some people watched it for the large amount of “eye candy” that the media relentlessly clung to, but nevertheless they watched it!
But, if you’re still completely uninterested in anything related to this marvelous sport – maybe Roberto Cavalli can change your mind. At least for 27 minutes.
Tomorrow evening, Shakira will be performing the official World Cup song “Waka Waka” for the closing ceremony and will be donning a special ensemble created just for the occasion. Roberto Cavalli will be the mastermind behind the design that is said to include a belly-baring tulle top embroidered with multicolor pearls, and a silk fringed skirt with a floral motif and animalier print. It will also include a denim belt embroidered with African style pearls and leather bracelets with floral silk appliqué.
If the outfit turns out anything like the sketch, it will be absolutely AMAZING. I think I found my next costume party idea.
I hope everyone has a fabulous Finals day tomorrow! ¡Vamos España!
