The phrase “personal style” is such a funny one to me. Everyone talks about it like it’s something that’s so defined and figured out, but it’s actually my least favorite question to answer. That and “where do you see yourself in 5 years?”. Why you ask? Because as I am with most things in life… I’m a bit of a chameleon.

Through each phase of my life my style has changed and the one thing I’ve learned is that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. Maybe it’s because I’m hitting my 2 year mark in New York (more to come on that next week) or just because I’m on my way to 30 (ugh…) but I’ve finally hit a point where I know what I like and that’s what I stick to.

While people often consider owning a lot of the same things a bad thing or flaw, at this point I consider it a testament to having figured out what I’m comfortable in and what works for me. I don’t know about you guys but it’s taken me a long time to get to this place where I don’t hate things I bought a year or two ago and wonder, what in the world was I thinking?

I was a little riskier and a little more fashion forward when I first graduated from school and entered the working world. While I still love a good risk here and there that definition has changed for me. I love this black shift dress – it’s great for a petite body type and I also know that a good tote and scarf will be invaluable for a girl who lives in New York City.

In exciting news my friends over at Stylewatch have teamed up with Charming Charlie to launch an exclusive capsule collection that’s available online and in stores now. I’m excited to snag a few more pieces from the collection to replenish some of my fall staples that I had to retire in the move. From now until 8/17 you can get $10 off any purchase of $30 and up, too!

What defines your comfort zone when it comes to getting dressed?
