I tend to go through phases where there are certain things that are stuck in my head and I cannot get them out. Black ripped skinny jeans have been stuck in my mind for weeks and of course, once I decided they were the next item on my list that I really wanted I started seeing them everywhere. I’ve been making a mental list of ways I want to style them – one of my favorites is Liz’s look with an oversized button down for a more ladylike touch that softens the edge a bit.
I actually swung by Bloomingdale’s to try a few pairs on in person and I’m so glad that I did. I ran into one hiccup that I wasn’t anticipating on the pair I was about to purchase online. Being petite and shorter than the average person, the JBrand pair with rips actually hit me below the knee instead of right at the knee. What a letdown. That is definitely not how they’re supposed to be, so I had to pass on that pair. I also measured from my hip to my knee to get an idea and looked at the length of some of the other pairs and where the holes hit to see if they would work for me.
I ended up switching my order to the AG version because they’re actually more distressed than actually ripped, which I tend to prefer over time and in the winter. You could also DIY your own and control the placement yourself with a pair like these MiH bodycon jeans – they’re the perfect shade of black and have a good, snug skinny fit. I’m excited to dress these up a bit with girly blouses and blazers. I think first up will be a crisp white blouse for a really simple look. This Madewell essential boyshirt is not only on sale, but also an extra 40% off right now making it a complete steal if you don’t already have a staple white shirt in your closet.
I had a great first weekend in the city and actually was out exploring Long Island and the Southampton for a day with a friend! I hadn’t been in a pool in probably over a year so it was a welcome escape from all of the moving, unpacking and arranging. My love for summer is at an all time high right now – I can’t even fathom that it August is over half over! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
