Every year there are undoubtedly things that pop up that you just can’t ignore. Whether they’re major or micro trends, you’ll see them in just about any store that you pop into or shop online. While this year for me will take a bit of a different direction (more to come on that this week), I still find myself craving certain colors and trends that I start seeing early in the year that fit with my personal style and aesthetic.
Maybe because it’s actually finally winter here, or maybe because it’s the beginning of a new year, but I’ve found myself starting to look for pieces that I know I’ll be able to weave into my wardrobe but that will give it a refreshed feeling. Here are my top 5 favorite trends I’m excited about for 2016:
2. Baby blue
A great substitute for white or light gray, baby blue is an easy but subtle way to incorporate some color into your wardrobe. Whether it’s a coat or a sweater, or this summer perhaps a little flirty dress.
Straps have had a moment, and I think still will, but this year I think it’ll be all about ease. Slide on / slide off / take me to the beach pronto! I’m already in love with this tan pair of Soludos.
For the first time in ages I’m craving flares and a mix of stick straight & excessively blown out hairstyles that you’d see on the likes of Farrah Fawcett or Ali Macgraw. I think this is the year for subtle fringe, a little shine and a little extra wide pant-leg.
Last year was all about the mini – mini satchels, mini earrings, mini details.. and I loved it. This year I am feeling the return of some larger pieces, one being a the hobo–a bag shape that I haven’t worn since high school or college, but with a redefined shape and styling to it I think could make a big splash this year.
